Chunker December 7, 2010

Our little Chunker had his 1 month checkup today.  Mr. Max now weighs 12lbs 6ozs!  That puts him in the 97% percentile for weight.  Yikes!  No wonder my biceps are looking good.

He is also cooing and smiling, both of which are 2 month milestones.  So it is safe to say that Max is developmentally advanced and very happy.  Duh!  Who wouldn’t be with Jackson as his big brother!  In fact, here is a picture I took yesterday of our little chunker with his big brother.  Don’t worry, he really does love his big brother.  That face is expressing love.  I swear.

April Fools Day and the Mean Mom April 1, 2010

So in a typical Mon-Fri week I have Jackson 2-3 of those mornings. Jackson’s alarm is set to go off at 7am. At about 7:01am I hear his little voice in his room asking me something. I tell him to get up and come into my bathroom to ask me …. then all I hear is Jackson …still in bed…..yelling …. “Can we get the Timbits!!!!?”

He is o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d with Timbits. It is the first thing he thinks about when he wakes up in the morning. Timbits are the first words out of his mouth in the morning. It is all my fault, I have created a Timbit obsessed monster! It started about 5 months ago. I stopped at the Timbits store before work one day to get Timbits for a meeting. I decided (in my head) to get Jackson his own little bag with 3 Timbits as a special treat. I thought this was a harmless gesture considering we already had a healthy breakfast. Well, the rest is history. The fiend was created.

I recently tried to tame the monster by telling him that they are not healthy and we can only have them once in a while. He understands this concept of once in a while. We already conquered his obsession of ice cream by telling him “only once in a while”. I also changed my route to work so we don’t pass the Timbits store. That does not stop him from asking for them every day, but at least when I say no, I don’t see tears. I usually allow them once per week. I’m still trying to figure out how to slow that down to once every two weeks. Considering how calendar challenged he his, this shouldn’t be hard.

Which brings me to today. Today is April 1st, April Fools Day. I planned a little trick for Jackson at dinner time, but couldn’t think of other tricks. Then, when he woke up and came into the bathroom and the first words out of his mouth were “Can we get the Timbits?” I replied Yes. Then I told him exclaimed with wild excitement “April Fools!” Waiting for him to laugh, I looked over at him and tears welled up in his little eyes.

So, on our way to work we “got the Timbits”.  My attempt at being “mean and funny” was just that….mean and very very funny.  Hee hee  -sorry Jackson, I just couldn’t help myself.
